 Principal's Welcome

I am delighted to welcome to you to our website and virtual learning environment. St Joseph’s College is a successful 11-18 Catholic Maintained school that places the pupils’ welfare as a top priority.  An extensive range of structures are in place both from a pastoral and academic perspective to support pupils to reach their full potential. Our simple but effective motto guides both staff and pupils in their work. We pride ourselves at St Joseph’s on our cross-community and peace and reconciliation work.  In 2010 we were delighted to be selected as one of only twelve schools across the Province to lead the Special Education Programme delivered by with Queen’s University and funded by Atlantic Philanthropies and the International Fund for Ireland.  Additional funding has enabled St Joseph’s to support both the primary and secondary sector in the Coleraine area to develop new and exciting educational initiatives, creating a wide range of experience across the community divide. Our vision, drive and pursuit of excellence within the community are widely regarded as the hallmark of St Joseph’s College to-day.

On the eve of this years GCSE results (August 2013) St Joseph's was officially recognised by the Department of Education as the highest performing non-grammar school in the province for the year 2011-2012. The accolade was based upon the 98% pass rate of the College's pupils who achieved five or more good GCSE results. This high performance mirrored previous year's performances. This year's A Level results are equally impressive with 70% of the pupils achieving three good grades and 94% achieving at least two A Levels.

In the school year 2013-2014 the school benefited from our latest school initiative as we had purchased Ipads for all our Year 8 pupils. In turn the Ipads are linked to the interactive white boards via Apple Tv within each class to enable pupils to share and learn rapidly within a vibrant modern learning envirnoment.
